Radiation Shielding Lead Glass with Cover Glass: LX Premium

Maintenance-free radiation shielding glass with excellent impact resistance and safety

This is a multi-layered glass made by laminating radiation shielding lead glass (LX-57B) and a special cover glass, offering excellent radiation shielding property. It is resistant to water-induced deterioration (clouding) caused by chemical splashes or water wiping and offers superior impact safety. This glass is ideal for sterilized X-ray rooms, windows in angiography rooms where chemicals may scatter, and door windows with high human traffic.

Applications

  • Medical facilities (e.g., X-ray CT rooms, angiography rooms)
  • Research facilities (e.g., synchrotron radiation facilities)
  • Nuclear facilities
  • Industrial facilities (e.g., non-destructive testing rooms with X-ray CT)

Features

  • High transparency
The lead glass is protected by a special cover glass, completely eliminating concerns about water-induced deterioration (clouding) on the glass surface caused by chemicals or other substances.
  • Maintenance-free
The special cover glass allows for easy cleaning with water, glass cleaner, or detergents.
  • Safety
With its multi-layer structure, the glass offers excellent impact resistance and safety, preventing scattering even if the glass breaks. (It meets the impact performance requirements of Class II-1 as specified in JIS R 3205 Laminated Glass.)
  • Outstanding radiation shielding performance
The high-lead-content glass (LX-57B) provides superior radiation shielding performance, even at thinner thicknesses compared to other transparent radiation shielding materials.
  • Availability of large sizes
The maximum size is 1200 x 2600 mm, and using large-sized LX Premium for monitoring and operation windows significantly enhances the field of view and greatly improves operability.

Thickness and lead equivalent

The product thickness of LX Premium is the thickness that guarantees the attenuation ability in X-rays and the effective dose transmittance in gamma rays (lead equivalent).

Lead equivalent(mmPb) Long side(mm) Product thickness(mm) Tolerance(mm) Remarks
1.1 600 11 ±1.2 Guaranteed lead equivalent at X-ray tube voltage 60-150kV, gamma ray 0.511MeV
1.5 1800 or less 12 ±1.2
Over 1800 14 ±2.0
2.0 1800 or less 14 ±1.4
Over 1800 16 ±2.0
2.5 1800 or less 16 ±1.4
Over 1800 18 ±2.0
3.0 1800 or less 19 ±1.4 Guaranteed lead equivalent at X-ray tube voltage 60-300kV, gamma ray 0.511MeV
Over 1800 21 ±2.0

Products with long sides exceeding 1800mm will have thicker cover glass.

Transmittance

The transmittance of the LX Premium is almost the same as that of the window glass of the same thickness.
