Radiation Shielding Lead Glass: LX-57B

With a high lead content, it is thinner than other transparent radiation shielding materials and delivers superior radiation shielding performance

It offers excellent radiation shielding performance and has been highly praised across a wide range of fields, including medical, industrial, laboratory, and nuclear industries. By using the large-sized LX-57B for monitoring and operation windows, such as in X-ray TV rooms, X-ray CT rooms, and angiography rooms, the field of view is expanded, significantly improving operability.

Applications

  • Medical facilities (e.g., X-ray CT rooms, angiography rooms)
  • Research facilities (e.g., synchrotron radiation facilities)
  • Nuclear facilities
  • Industrial facilities (e.g., non-destructive testing rooms with X-ray CT)

Features

  • Outstanding radiation shielding performance
Thanks to its high lead content, this glass delivers excellent radiation shielding performance, even at thinner thicknesses compared to other transparent radiation shielding materials.
  • High transparency
Made from high-quality raw materials, this glass is polished on both sides, offering visible light transmittance almost identical to standard window glass. It is ideal for monitoring and operating windows in radiation equipment.
  • Specific properties of glass
In the event of a fire, the glass will not burn. It is also machinable, allowing for customization with round shapes or drilled holes, making it suitable for round windows and glove boxes.

Specifications

Radiation Shielding Performance

The thickness of the LX-57B corresponds to the lead equivalent thickness, ensuring it provides the same X-ray attenuation capacity as a lead plate of the same thickness.

Thickness and lead equivalent

Product thickness (mm) Lead equivalent (mmPb) Remarks
6.0±0.5 1.1 Guaranteed lead equivalent at X-ray tube voltage 60-150kV, gamma ray 0.511MeV
7.0±0.5 1.5
9.0±0.5 2.0
11.0±0.5 2.5
14.0±0.5 3.0 Guaranteed lead equivalent at X-ray tube voltage 60-200kV, gamma ray 0.511MeV

Products with shielding performance exceeding 3.0mmPb lead equivalent for X-rays, as well as those designed for non-X-ray radiation sources, can also be manufactured. Please contact us for more details.

Transmittance (Reference Value)

The transmittance of the LX-57B is nearly identical to that of standard window glass of the same thickness.
